Past Projects

Pocket Opera

2020 Season Advertising Campaign

An institution in the San Francisco opera scene, Pocket Opera is known for its inimitable founder, Donald Pippin, and his English translations of beloved operas. Pocket Opera approached me to create imagery for their upcoming season, which included six productions of six operas, each one with its own unique look and feel. I worked with their artistic director to plan the look and feel of each opera’s imagery before shooting. We costumed, did hair and makeup, and shot each production over three days–ten actors total. My goals for this shoot were to create a set of sophisticated, playful imagery that honored the unique humor of Pocket Opera.

The resulting images were used in Pocket Opera’s printed brochure, social media advertising, printed banners, website, news articles, and press releases.

Saint Benoit Creamery

Visual Assets

Sonoma-based yogurt maker Saint Benoit Creamery was in the process of rebranding, and needed some fresh imagery. They particularly wanted to highlight ways to serve their yogurt at any meal of the day, and to highlight ways to reuse their signature glass containers. Additionally, they wanted to showcase one of their source dairies, particularly the farmer Joe, Jersey cows, and idyllic landscapes.

The resulting imagery was used on their website, sell sheets, social media, and trade show banners and printed marketing materials.

“The Year of Knots”

Book By Windy Chien

Fiber artist Windy Chien asked me to contribute images to her book project, which included lifestyle shots of her in her studio, as well as tutorials for dozens of knots and projects. To prepare for our shoot, we determined a look and feel for the whole tutorial section, which included hundreds of step-by-step images. Some images used in the book were from previous photo shoots at Windy’s studio. New photos were taken in studio over a period of approximately 9 months as Windy prepared her book.

The resulting images were used throughout her book, which is published by Abrams Books, including on the front and back covers.

Cheese Plus

Catering Menu Visual Assets

Cheese Plus came to me to update the catering branch of their business. They had recently made some changes to their catering options, and wanted to freshen up their menu imagery. Prior to shooting, we determined the look and feel of the images and created a shot list. All of the platters were styled and prepared by a professional cheesemonger. This shoot required two shooting days in the studio.

The resulting images were used on Cheese Plus’s printed marketing materials, social media, website, third party food delivery apps and websites, and email newsletters.
