Amy and Matt inquired after wedding photography after I had already known Amy for a couple of years. We first met when doing a show. She was a shimmering, brilliant leading lady, and as I got to know her a bit more, I came to see that that was because she is actually at least part fairy princess, as one of her groomsmen later remarked. She has a marvelous green thumb, she loves animals of all kinds, and she sees the magic in every situation. Doing backstage photography with her in front of the lens was a way to understand some of these things that make her so unique!
Her husband Matt is a bit different. An accomplished musician as well, he is a classical guitarist as part of an acclaimed guitar trio. He also has a calming presence and inventive personality.
They decided to wed in a place that allowed them to combine all of their loves—their friends and family, nature, and music. Matt and Amy decided that they would not do any performing that day, so that they could enjoy their wedding!
Just about every part of the wedding was executed by Amy or her family and friends—the pies they shared instead of cake, the music, Amy’s makeup, the favors . . . it made for such a sweet, personal celebration! Photographing their big day was full of fun surprises and thoughtful details. From the seeds gifted to guests so they could grow their own little gardens, to party hats commemorating “The Bird Party,” to members of Matt’s guitar trio playing during the ceremony–everything spoke so strongly of Matt and Amy’s personalities, their thoughtfulness, and their joy as a couple.
Here’s to a lifetime of happiness, Amy and Matt!
